When we were nearly finished with the project Daedalus as part of REXUS23 we had the idea to found an association of students to be able to work on more projects in the area of space and aerospace. This idea became reality when we applied to REXUS/BEXUS again with Daedalus2 and we founded the association “JUST”. Due to problems with the name we decided to change our name and the “WüSpace e.V. was officially founded on the 13th of June 2019.
With the founding of this association we want to enable students to realize aerospace projects independently and get organizational and technical support, as well as to give them structures to enable a successful execution of the project.
We are stating WüSpace e.V with two projects. On the one hand Daedalus2 the successor to the project Daedalus which started this association in the first place. In this we slow down a flying object, called “SpaceSeed”, ejected from a rocket through rotation and thusly to touch down with a lower velocity. Daedalus2 is being developed as part of the REXUS/BEXUS programme by the DLR, SNSA and ESA. Our second project is called T-REX (Tracking Rocket EXperiments) and is an optical tracking system to autonomously film rocket launches. It enables us to help in the analysis of potential problems and to provide a video of the launch of the rocket.
More projects, especially in the areas of outreach and conveying our enthusiasm and fascination with space and aerospace to younger generations, are in the planning stages at the moment.
Our directorate consists of Clemens Riegler as chairperson, Pablo Klaschka as deputy chairperson, our finance director is Tim Appelt and secretary is Tobias Herbst.
